Trek to Bhimashankar(via shidi ghat) with Aberrant Wanderers on 4th August 2013

Hello Wanderers,
We welcome you to an evergreen trek to Bhimashankar via Shidi ghat (ladder route) on 4th August 2013.



General information: 
Bhimashankar is one of the 12 Jyotirlings of India, a pilgrimage place approximately 3500 feet high up in the hills. The area around Bhimashankar is covered with thick dense jungle. The Maharashtra Government has also declared it a Sanctuary.The sanctuary is small (only about 100 sq. km’s), but it is home to a wide variety of animals Leopard, Sambhar, Barking deer, Porcupines, Grey Junglefowls, Wild pig, Hanuman langur, Rhesus macaque and Flying Squirrel etc. The sanctuary is famous as the home of a highly endangered subspecies of the Indian Giant Squirrel – Shekharu (Ratufa indica elphistoni), which is also the state animal of Maharashtra.

Trek Itinerary:
Please catch second last local to Karjat on 3rd August 2013 (Saturday)

• 11:30 pm : CST
• 11:38 pm : Byculla
• 11:48 pm : Dadar
• 11:59 pm : Kurla
• 00:05 am : Ghatkopar
• 00:26 am : Thane
• 00:48 am : Dombivili
• 00:57 am : Kalyan
• 01:34 am : Neral

If you miss this train then please catch last local to Karjat which starts from CST at 00:38 AM

• Gather at Neral station and start towards base Village at 3 am.
• Reach Base village Khandas by Private Vehicle 5 am.
• Breakfast and briefing
• Start the Trek by 6 am. We will ascend by shidi ghat (Ladder route.)
• Reach Top by 10 am. Visit temple and spend some time.
• Lunch at 11 am
• Start descend by 12-12:30 pm. We will descend by Ganesh Ghat.
• Reach base by 4 pm.
• Reach Karjat by private vehicle(We will come back to Karjat so that we can catch Karjat starting train and get place to sit).
• we will be try to be back to Mumbai by 7pm (Approx).

Things to carry:

• A Water Bottle (~2-3 Ltrs),
• Camera, Cell Phone, Cap(Optional, wrap it in plastic, water proof protection)
• Please avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments
• Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits etc.
• Medicine those if you require usually (Optional)
• Extra Pair of clothes (if you want to change after getting drenched in rain)
• A haversack to put all these things
